The Financial Services Department (Finance) is ready to help you find out about our various services provided by four divisions (Accounting, Customer Service and Business Operations, Purchasing, and Print Services) and to answer your questions. Through this website you will be able to make contact with the right people to receive any assistance you may need. Our department strives for service excellence as we “aim to amaze” our customers.

Mission Statement

The Financial Services Department is dedicated to improve upon and promote excellence in customer service through sound professional financial management and accurate financial services by identifying and developing financial policies and practices and upholding them through education, training and leadership to both the Citizens of Wilson and the City Departments.


Financial Administration and Accounting Division

Distinguished Budget Presentation AwardPerforms statutory duties surrounding comprehensive financial administration and planning. We perform all accounting and financial reporting activities for the City including cash disbursement, budget preparation and administration, treasury management and debt management. Accounting manages and communicates financial information to city management (City Council, City Manager, Department Heads) and to other users of City financial data (Citizens, Bondholders, Oversight Bodies, Financial Service Providers, External Agencies) to permit informed judgments and decisions concerning the provision of services to our citizens. Accounting will also assist you with assessments accounts, and privilege license applications and issuance.

Customer Service and Business Operations Division

Provides billing, collections, and customer service for City-operated utility and broadband accounts as well as providing assistance to our utility and broadband customers with obtaining and ending utility services.

Purchasing Division

Provides centralized purchasing and warehousing functions to all City operations. The Purchasing Division promotes cost-effective operations by acquiring high-quality goods and services at the lowest price and by selling surplus goods at the highest price.

Print and Mail Services Division

Provides centralized printing and design functions for City operations. The Print Shop aims to offer efficient and cost effective, same-day or next-day service on most orders.
