RIDE is the City of Wilson's on-demand micro-transit service. RIDE replaced the fixed route bus system on September 1, 2020. RIDE is a partnership between the City of Wilson and Via, a leader in micro-transit service.

RIDE serves most of the Wilson city limits. Unlike the bus system, RIDE allows riders to request a trip at any time. You can start your RIDE by the app, through our web booker or by phone.

RIDE operates Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. On Saturdays, RIDE operates from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. RIDE does not operate on Thanksgiving or Christmas, but it does operate on other city holidays, although sometimes with a smaller pool of drivers.

What is RIDE?
RIDE works like a smart bus — book a trip using the app (or call in) and you’ll get picked up in minutes at a corner a short walk from the address you entered. You’ll then be matched with other passengers heading in the same direction. Trips may be shared but the maximum number of passengers per vehicle will be limited.

How much do trips cost?
Trips cost $2.50 each, and you can bring an extra person along for $1. Children under 8 are free. Wilson Transit Senior Citizen and Disabled ID card holders are eligible for discounted pricing. If you’d like to purchase trips in bulk, you will receive discounted pricing (i.e. 10 trips for $10).
How do I file a RIDE complaint?
Complaints must be filed in writing or in person no later than 180 days after the alleged act of discrimination occurred to, Transportation Manager, Wilson Transit System, 320 East Nash Street, Wilson, NC 27893 or PO Box 10, Wilson, NC 27894

Where and when can I take a trip?
You can book a RIDE between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. anywhere within the service zone outlined on the map.
