Transportation plans identify transportation needs for a region or municipality and creates a framework for project priorities. Transportation plans can cover many modes of transportation including mass transit (busses or rail), automobiles, bicycles, and pedestrians. The Safe Routes to School Program Action plan, Downtown Parking Study, Hominy Creek Greenway and Water Quality Park Master plan, and the Bicycle and Pedestrian plan have all been identified as transportation plans.

 

City of Wilson Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan

The City of Wilson Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan provides guidance for the City, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), and other local and regional stakeholders in developing improvements to its pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, programs and policies. This plan was adopted in October 2020.

Hominy Creek Greenway and Water Quality Park Plan

The Hominy Creek Greenway and Water Quality Park Master Plan identifies a preferred alignment and concept for creating a recreational facility with flood control solutions. This plan summarizes existing conditions, opportunities and constraints for such a project. This plan was adopted in July 2016.

Safe Routes to School

The City of Wilson’s Safe Routes to School Program action plan is committed to creating a transportation environment that is safe to walk and bicycle to school, fosters healthy and active living lifestyles and sustains a livable and vibrant community. This plan was adopted in February 2012.

Downtown Parking Study

The purpose of this parking study is to evaluate existing conditions, utilization, policies and practices within Downtown Wilson. This report recommends near-term (1-5 year) improvements. This study was submitted on June 17, 2015.
