2043 Comprehensive Plan Update
In April 2024, City Council adopted the Growing Together: The 2043 Comprehensive Plan to update and replace the previous 2030 Comprehensive Plan. This process occurred over a 2-year period and included several public meetings and much input from a cross section of the Wilson community. The process was guided by City of Wilson staff and supported by local consultants at Clarion Associates and VHB.
The 2043 Plan revised sections to reflect changes that happened since the previous plans adoption and support a renewed vision for the future of the community.
The 2043 Plan provides guidance for many aspects of Wilson’s future, including:
- addressing equity and community reinvestment,
- promoting workforce advancement,
- modernizing transportation infrastructure,
- improving sustainability and resilience,
- And providing fiscally sustainable public services and facilities.
The Comprehensive Plan is a roadmap that provides guidance on where and how a community will grow and change over a period of time. The City of Wilson uses this as a policy document to set priorities and make important land use and investment decisions.
The 2043 Comprehensive Plan is available in an accessible Web-based format using ArcGIS StoryMaps. ArcGIS StoryMaps combine interactive maps with multimedia content and text to tell stories about the world.
The 2043 Comprehensive Plan has 10 Chapters in total. The About Our Plan and Community Background chapters will orient viewers on how to navigate the site, and provide important information about how Wilson has changed since the last plan was adopted and how we are projected to grow in the future. There are 6 policy chapters. The Implementation Chapter has more detailed information on strategies and tiered priorities for implementation. The Community Engagement Chapter goes over the Update Process and how the public may get involved in the implementation in the future.
We sincerely appreciate all who were involved and invite everyone to view the Adopted Plan here.
