The City of Wilson's parking ordinance is designed to promote the safe, orderly, and efficient use of public streets and parking facilities while protecting the health, safety, and general welfare of residents, businesses, and visitors in the Municipal Area of Downtown.

  • Promote public safety by preventing parking that obstructs traffic, intersections, fire lanes, sidewalks, or emergency vehicle access.
  • Protect neighborhoods and businesses by regulating oversized vehicles, commercial parking lots, and other parking activities that could negatively affect surrounding properties.
  •  Ensure parking lots are operated safely and responsibly, including establishing rules for the use of public and private parking lots.
  •  Support economic activity by encouraging the availability and turnover of parking spaces for customers, employees, and visitors.

In summary, the City of Wilson's parking ordinances exist to balance accessibility and convenience with public safety, traffic efficiency, neighborhood protection, and community development. They provide the legal framework for managing parking throughout the city while supporting the City's broader goals for safe transportation and orderly growth. Signed Parking Ordinance with fees
