The City of Wilson is developing a Comprehensive Downtown Parking Plan!

This plan is expected to be completed by Summer 2026 and will include an analysis of parking demand, the identification of needs and opportunities, and recommendations to manage planned growth and revitalization of the area. There will be opportunities to get involved and provide your feedback. For more information, refer to the sections below.

*Note: This plan focuses on parking within the municipal district of the City of Wilson.

What is the purpose of the plan?

Downtown Wilson has undergone many changes since the last Downtown Parking Study was completed in 2014. New and future developments have presented different opportunities, and the original plan now requires updates.

The plan will assess current conditions, project future parking demand, create a special event parking plan, develop a progressive parking rate strategy, and review the city’s enforcement policies and practices. The plan will document and synthesize recommendations from previous plans, ongoing projects, and state and national best practices into an action-oriented plan built on community and stakeholder feedback. It will also identify an array of technology solutions and include preliminary cost estimates.

What is the timeline of the plan?

The project formally began in November 2025 and is expected to conclude in Summer 2026. Public and stakeholder engagement will take place between January and March 2026, and a final plan report will be completed by Summer 2026.

How can you get involved?

An online public survey will be available to gather information on how you currently use downtown parking and what you would like the plan to address.

The parking survey is now live! Please click here to take the survey.
