55th Human Relations Awards Celebration
The Human Relations Office will host its 55th Human Relations Awards Celebration on Friday, March 27, 2026. The awards will recognize a wide variety of volunteers for those that give back to the community and volunteer to make a difference. Both the Human Relations Commission and the Wilson Committee for Persons with Disabilities come together annually to bestow honors and awards to amazing volunteers and organizations. The nominees receive recognition they never asked for, but highly deserve. This year’s theme, Beacon of Light: Guiding the Way, Changing Lives will embrace the 55th emerald anniversary.
Friday, March 27
- Darden Alumni Center, 1600 Lipscomb Road, Wilson NC
- Semi-formal attire
- 6:00 pm – doors open
- 6:30 pm – event begins
Ticket are on sale now in the Human Relations Office.
- 104 Goldsboro Street East, 9 am – 5 pm.
- $25 per person, includes banquet dinner.
- Cash or Check in person
- Ticket sales end Wednesday, March 18, while supplies last.
- No tickets will be sold at the door.

Theatrice “Theo” McClammy
Theo McClammy formerly served as the City of Wilson’s Human Relations Director, 1996 – 1999. He was instrumental in expanding outreach of the office and Commission to include neighborhoods, fair housing, youth and the disabled community. He was hired by long term city manager, Ed Wyatt, and was introduced at the 26th awards celebration. It is befitting to have him back as the guest speaker as we celebrate the 55th anniversary.
McClammy is a nationally recognized public servant and community development leader with over 25 years of experience advancing human relations needs. His career reflects a deep commitment to public service and to building inclusive communities where opportunity and dignity are accessible to all residents. He currently serves as the Program Manager for New Hanover County. Earlier in his career, he served for decades as the Executive Director of Onslow Community Outreach. His municipal leadership has included Chesapeake, Fayetteville and the City of Wilson. He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the Order of the Caduceus, and multiple accolades from the National Association of Counties and the National Alliance for Innovators. A graduate of both NC Central University and Regent University, he is a esteemed member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
