Guest Speaker: Anthony Atkinson

If you only look at his size, you might think he's not cut out to be a basketball player; you couldn't be more wrong. With a game so much larger than his size, Anthony Atkinson Jr., or Ant, has taken the doubts and words of his critics to build a game and a career in basketball, which similar to his personality, awards, and accolades, stands out from the rest.

The son of Anthony and Vivian Atkinson, Ant's love for the game of basketball began when he was a small boy training with his father. Ant attended Greenfield School where he blossomed into the basketball player he is today. His academic and social achievements earned him a scholarship to Barton College.

Ant played point guard at Barton and would go on to become an All-American in his senior season. During his senior season, Ant made the unbelievable game winning shot in the 2007 NCAA Div-2 Championship game against Winona. This would cement his legacy as one of the greatest players to ever play at Barton College and make the championship game one of the greatest comebacks in NCAA history.

In 2007, Ant joined the historic Harlem Globetrotters, traveling to over 85 countries and impacting the world for good. His reach has gone beyond basketball. He speaks at conferences, basketball camps, schools and universities sharing his story of perseverance, determination and faith.

Ant is currently a teacher and head varsity boys basketball coach at Wilson Preparatory Academy.
