A sign permit must be obtained before installing any permanent or temporary signage. 

Review Process and Timing

Sign permits are reviewed by Land Development for compliance with Chapter 11 of the Unified Development Ordinance, and Construction Standards for compliance with the NC State Building Code. Typically, this process takes about 3-5 business days.

To apply for a sign permit please visit our Wilson Application Portal. If you have not previously submitted an application through the online portal, you will need to set up an account first. Please upload all supporting documentation (drawings, electrical details, structural details, etc.) through the application portal.
