Creating your City of Wilson Application Portal Account 

1.      Visit https://buildit.wilsonnc.org/PLLPortal/ and click ‘Create Account’ 

2.      Click where it says “Create Account’ before the Sign in button. (Guest Access is for searching projects, not creating ones!) 

Enter an email address. This is where all your email replies when projects are updated, as well as attachments will be sent, so make sure it is one you check early and often!  

You will get a popup to check your email.  

3.      Please look for the email from cityworks@wilsonnc.org (add this email to your whitelist / accepted senders list!)  

You will then be prompted to enter your remaining information (Name/Address/City, etc) This information will auto-populate when applying for permits by clicking the ‘Add My Info” button, saving you a lot of time!  

4.      Once you create your account, click ‘Return to Sign In’ and be returned to the portal login. 

5.      Enter the username (your email address you registered with) and your password (you set it during step 6) and you will be logged into the portal! 

6.      You will be prompted to change your password. If the original password you chose meets the complexity requirements, then you can safely re-use it here and reset. The password must meet the following requirements: 
     a. Minimum length of 14 characters 
     b. No more than two consecutive letters (ab is fine, abc is not) 
     c. At least one uppercase letter 
     d. At least one lowercase letter 
     e. At least one number 
     f. At least one special character (space is considered a special character) 
Once you have determined your password, enter it in, then re-type it and click Reset Password. If it meets the requirements, you will be good to go. If not, it will prompt you to retry until you create a password meeting the complexity requirements.  

7.      Log in with the new password created in Step 9, and you will be on the Portal Landing Page!
