Apply for Natural Gas Service

To have natural gas service installed at your home or business, you must complete a Natural Gas Service Application and pay a $50 tap fee at the time of submission.

What's Included with New Service

Once your application and fee are submitted, Wilson Energy will:

  • Install up to 100 feet of natural gas service line from the main to your building

  • Provide a natural gas meter and pressure regulator

  • Determine the meter location, typically on the non-driveway side of the building

To qualify for this installation, the property must include or plan to install a natural gas water heater or natural gas building heater.

Installation Process

  1. Submit Application & Pay $50 Tap Fee

    • Application must be complete

    • Tap fee must be paid before installation work begins

  2. Site Visit & Planning

    • A Wilson Energy technician will visit your property

    • You'll review and agree on the service and meter location

  3. Utility Locating (NC811)

    • Wilson Energy will contact NC811 to mark all underground public utilities along the planned service route

    • This process takes a minimum of three (3) working days

Important Notes

  • The City of Wilson must approve all meter locations

  • Installation is provided at no additional cost when conditions are met

  • Additional charges may apply if more than 100 feet of service line is needed or if specialized site conditions exist
