The Park Police Officers are responsible for the safety of citizens utilizing city parks, lakes and reservoirs and enforcing laws and ordinances upon, but not limited to, park property, lakes and reservoirs. Park Police Officers utilize the Park Police watercraft patrolling the lakes and reservoirs. Park Police Officers work closely with Wildlife Officers enforcing laws and ordinances on and around the city lakes. This includes during the summer months enforcing such laws as alcohol violations, littering, safety violations, etc. Park Police also assist the police patrol division when assistance is needed.
I have been working as a Police Officer with the City of Wilson since January 2012. I started the Park Police position in December 2013. I earned an Associate’s degree in criminal justice prior to starting my law enforcement career. I attended Basic Law Enforcement Training at Wilson Community College (Coastal Plains Academy).
Officer Ferrell serves as the contact for disturbances in parks/reservoirs, permit violations for hunting/fishing on city property.
