City of Wilson offices, including the customer service business office and recreation centers, will be closed Wednesday, July 4, for Independence Day.
Wilson Transit will also not run Wednesday.
The holiday will not affect scheduled trash and recycling pickups. However, there will be no special pickups on Wednesday. Any questions about environmental services may be answered at 399-2485.
Anyone wanting to pay a bill have three options Wednesday:
- Doing so online atWilsonNC.org;
- Using the automated system at 252-399-2200; or
- Leaving payments in the dropbox at the customer service center on Nash Street.
Customer service may be reached during business hours at 252-399-2200.
All emergency services will operate on normal schedules.
Anyone wanting to see fireworks locally can view a show at Wilson’s Fleming Stadium, following the Tobs’ baseball game. The game versus the Fayetteville SwampDogs starts at 6:15 p.m. Tickets information is available at wilsontobs.com or by calling 291-8627.
There also will be fireworks at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. East Nash Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring the July 4th BBQ Cookoff, Fundraiser and Festival from 2-10 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Area firefighters will be competing for the best barbecue, plus there will be rides, games, music, fire equipment displays, the EastCare helicopter and more, followed by fireworks after dark.
