The City of Wilson is inviting residents, families, friends, community groups, local organizations and businesses to take part in the 2026 Fall Waters of Wilson Cleanup on Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Now in its fourth year, Waters of Wilson brings people together twice a year for a simple purpose: giving back to the community while helping protect the waterways that run through it.

Litter does not always stay where it is dropped. Rain can carry trash from streets, parking lots and neighborhoods into storm drains, which can eventually lead to local creeks and other waterways. During Waters of Wilson, volunteers head out to designated cleanup areas to remove litter before it can travel farther downstream.

This fall, volunteers can choose from seven locations across Wilson: Wiggins Mill, Parkwood Boulevard, Williams Day Camp, Norris Park, Malpass Drive, Beacon Street and the creekside area at Sunset Recreation Center.

Waters of Wilson is about more than picking up litter, it gives people an opportunity to get outside, work alongside their neighbors and do something positive for the community. Whether you participate with your family, bring a group from work or join on your own, Waters of Wilson offers a hands-on way to give back while spending a Saturday morning outdoors.

Registration opens, and volunteers can select the cleanup site where they would like to participate.

In case of inclement weather, the cleanup will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.
