Post Date:04/28/2026 12:37 PM

Spring '26 WOW Impact ReportThe City of Wilson’s Waters of Wilson spring clean-up once again brought the community together to protect local waterways and beautify shared spaces across the city.

Held in April, this year’s event invited volunteers to “Wade In, Work Wonders,” and the results show just how impactful a few hours of community effort can be.

By the Numbers:

  • 75 volunteers
  • 1,617 pounds of trash removed
  • 13 miles cleaned
  • 7 cleanup sites across Wilson

From streams and greenways to neighborhood areas, volunteers worked across the city to remove litter and debris, helping improve water quality and protect Wilson’s natural environment.

A Continued Community Effort

Waters of Wilson is a seasonal initiative held each spring and fall, focused on reducing litter and raising awareness about stormwater and environmental stewardship.

While each year brings different challenges, the program continues to make a measurable difference. Since its launch, the initiative has engaged hundreds of volunteers and removed thousands of pounds of litter from Wilson’s environment.

Looking Ahead

City staff are already working to build on this year’s success by:

  • Expanding outreach to reach more residents
  • Increasing visibility in parks and public spaces
  • Encouraging team-based volunteer participation
  • Strengthening partnerships with schools and community organizations

Thank You to Our Volunteers
