Post Date:04/04/2026 5:28 PM

The City Council met for its informal breakfast meeting on April 2. The meeting began with a closed session to discuss economic development and a litigation matter.

Water Resource Capital Projects Presentation

Assistant City Manager Bill Bass presented the Water Resources capital plan for the next several years. The presentation covers capital needs in the water and wastewater systems and provided an in-depth explanation of future needs as a lead up to the budget presentation in May. For the water system, a new pressure zone is needed to serve the I-95 corridor and Wilson Corporate Park. Wasterwater upgrades are also needed to upgrade pump stations. The findings of a recent rate study for water and wastewater were also presented.

The presentation was a preliminary discussion and no action was requested or taken. More information will be provided during the budget process.

Approval of City Council Retreat

The only action taken during the meeting was approval of a City Council retreat to be scheduled in the next two months. The purpose of the retreat was stated as “to strengthen collaboration, reduce polarization, and enhance our effectiveness in serving the people we represent”.

The entire meeting can be viewed on the city’s Vimeo channel.

City Council meets on the third Thursday evening each month throughout the year, and the morning meetings are held on the first Thursday morning most months, with breaks in January, July, August and December.

City Council’s next meeting is Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m.
