Some online payments not available due to vendor outage

Post Date:02/06/2026 8:08 PM

Some city online payments are not available at this time due to a major outage from the payment processing vendor. We were notified of the issue early Friday morning. The outage is with the company that processes payments, not with the city. The city’s website and MyWilson are up and running.

What is impacted?

Only credit card payments are affected, including utility payments, Greenlight payments, and payment for building permits and inspections.

How can I pay a bill?

Utility and Greenlight bills can be paid through Express Pay by calling 252-399-2200, option 1. Credit card payments are accepted through Express Pay. The drive-thru kiosk located at the Customer Service Center is also available and will take credit card payments. Customers can also pay in person at the Customer Service Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

We are investigating options for alternate arrangements for permits and inspections and will provide more information when available.

Will my autopay process as scheduled?

No, autopay is also affected by this outage. We are working on alternate arrangements for autopay customers. If you have an autopay scheduled in the next week, we will reach out to you if this issue is not resolved by then.

My utility bill is due next week. What should I do?

Customers with bills due in the next week should use one of the alternate methods to pay the bill. The only exception to this is autopay customers, which means your credit card is charged monthly without you initiating the payment. Those customers will be contacted directly.

Is program registration for Parks and Recreation available?

Yes, the registration system for Parks and Recreation programming is not impacted by this outage. Credit card payments can be used on that system.

When will this problem be fixed?

This is an issue with the payment processing vendor, not the city. We are receiving regular communication from the company, but they do not have an estimated timeframe for the issue to be resolved.
