Wilson in the Fall: A Season Full of Color, Celebration, and Community

 As the leaves turn and the air grows cooler, the City of Wilson is entering one of the most vibrant times of the year. Fall is a season filled with community events, family activities, and opportunities to come together and celebrate all that makes Wilson special. 

From everyday business to athletic tournaments and beloved seasonal traditions, there's something happening for everyone this fall. 

Upcoming Highlights

October 16 – City Council Meeting
Stay engaged and informed by attending the October City Council meeting. Council meetings are open to the public and offer residents the opportunity to hear updates, share feedback, and see how their city government is working to serve the community.

October 18–19 – DUPR Collegiate Pickleball Regional Tournament
Wilson welcomes collegiate athletes from across the region for a weekend of friendly competition and fun. Come cheer on the players and enjoy the energy of this fast-growing sport.

October 20 – Oliver Nestus Freeman Roundhouse Museum Groundbreaking Ceremony
Join us as we celebrate the expansion of the Oliver Nestus Freeman Roundhouse Museum. This important milestone honors the legacy of Oliver Nestus Freeman and the museum’s role in preserving Wilson’s African American history.

October 21 - Evening Wilson Farmers & Artisan Market + Gather Here pianist concert (5 - 8 PM)

It's the perfect way to enjoy fall evenings in Wilson — tasty food, local shopping, and community fun! Listen to live piano music from Gather Hear pianist while browsing artisan vendors and seasonal treats. There are two more evening markets after this one: November 4 and 18.

October 22–26 – North Carolina Senior Games Pickleball Tournament
The courts will stay lively as senior athletes from across the state return to Wilson for the North Carolina Senior Games. Join us in celebrating active living, sportsmanship, and community spirit.

October 30–31 – Halloween Celebrations Across the City
Halloween is Oct. 31 and Wilson offers safe and family-friendly ways to celebrate.

November 1–2 – North Carolina Whirligig Festival
The fall season concludes with Wilson’s signature event — the NC Whirligig Festival! Join us downtown for two days of art, crafts, live entertainment, food, and fun as we celebrate the creative spirit that defines our community.
