Tarboro, Pine Street Soon Open to Two-Way Traffic
Street improvement project will continue through 2019
Tarboro Street and Pine Street will soon be converted from one-way streets to two-way streets. This project is expected to better meet the community's needs in the future.
The sections that will be converted are:
Tarboro Street from Hines to Vance
Pine Street from Vance to Tarboro
As part of the project, underground utility infrastructure will be repaired as needed before the street is resurfaced. Work began on sewer infrastructure on May 13 and will continue for the next several weeks. During that time, Tarboro Street will be closed to vehicle traffic, with sidewalks planned to remain open. When possible, the road will be re-opened in the evening and nighttime hours.
The project will continue throughout 2019, with the streets closed as needed.
Traffic signals will also change once the project is complete. The traffic lights at Barnes and Tarboro, Barnes and Pine, Green and Tarboro; Green and Pine, and Vance and Tarboro will be removed with the intersections controlled by all-way stop signs.
Both streets will be resurfaced as part of this project.
