City’s first Dog Park coming to Toisnot Park
Wilson’s first dog park will soon be constructed at Toisnot Park. The eight-acre park will be located between Lawndale Drive and Ward Boulevard.
The park will include dog play equipment, landscaping, shade structures and dog water, wash and waste stations.
“This project accomplishes several long-term goals for the City’s park system,” said City Manager Grant Goings. “Thousands of visitors to Gillette Athletic Complex pass by Toisnot Park, and it is the most centrally-located city park in our system. We’ve had an ongoing desire to enhance the park, making the area more appealing to residents and visitors. This project allows us to accomplish that goal while meeting the long-standing desire in the community for a dog park.”
Site preparation work will begin by early summer. The site work will include elevating the park by several feet to minimize flooding in the area. The park is expected to be open by Fall 2019.
Sponsorship opportunities will be available for the dog play equipment and other elements.
