DESCRIPTION:<p>The Wilson Committee on Patriotism will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Monday in front of the Wilson County Courthouse. The public is invited.</p><p>N.C. Rep. Linda Cooper-Suggs, District 24, N.C. House of Representatives, will be the keynote speaker.</p><p>The service will include the usual mix of patriotic music and observances. New Hope Elementary School chorus under the direction of music Tara Woodard will perform several songs. Torry Winston-Sanders of Wilson Chapel FWBC will sing the National Anthem.</p><p>The event will also include flag ceremonies involving the Junior ROTCs of Beddingfield, Hunt and Fike high schools; a welcome by Wilson Mayor Carlton Stevens; a POW/MIA service; placing of a wreath in honor of the county’s war dead; and prayers by James A. Faison, the committee’s chaplain.</p><p>The event concludes with a 21-gun salute and the playing of “Taps.”</p><p>The committee provides a hot dog lunch to veterans and their families following the service.</p>
