49th Human Relations Awards Banquet

Roaring 2020 – Vision for the Future

  • Date: 02/28/2020 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Saying “Thank You” seems like such a simple gesture, but so many times volunteers and community organization that give so much to the community go unnoticed. Each year the City of Wilson’s Human Relations Commission sets a goal to make sure that doesn’t happen by holding the annual Human Relations Awards Banquet in late February. This year’s event, “Roaring 2020 – Vision for the Future” will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020.

Anthony “Ant” Atkinson, Jr. will serve as the guest speaker. Ant is well known in Wilson for his unbelievable buzzer-beating 2007 game winning shot for Barton College in a NCAA Div-2 Championship game. Ant was born and raised in Wilson. He attended Greenfield School where his love for basketball blossomed. After college, he was invited to become a member of the Harlem Globetrotters, traveling to more than 85 countries and impacting the world for good. Ant is currently working as the Head Basketball Coach and teacher at Wilson Prepatory Academy. His reach has gone beyond basketball, speaking at conferences, basketball camps and schools and university sharing his story about perseverance, determination and faith.

Tickets are on sale in the Human Relations Office, located at 104 Goldsboro Street, for $15 per person.

The night of the banquet doors open at 6 pm and program starts at 6:30 pm.
