Last call goes out for Youth Citizens Academy July 14-18

Wednesday, July 09, 2014

Registration is still open for the Youth Citizens Academy 2014 hosted by the City of Wilson Human Relations office. The academy will be held the week of July 14-18.

Twenty slots will be open to rising 9th – 12th graders. The academy will be held daily beginning at 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Charles W. Pittman III Operations Center at 1800 Herring Avenue. Lunch will be provided. There are still a few slots available.

This is the second year for the academy. The academy will give students the opportunity to gain insight into the operations of local government. They will be able to observe some of the day to day activities within the City of Wilson. There will be presentations from each department, hands-on activities and interactions, and tours of various city facilities.

The goal of the academy is to give students the opportunity to begin considering career choices and hopefully start the process of developing future leaders in Wilson.

If you have students interested in attending, you can call the Human Relations office at 252-399-2308 to receive an application.
