Soul Brazil leads final First Friday of 2013

Thursday, October 03, 2013

The Soul Brazil band will headline this year's final First Friday on the Lawn, set for this Friday, 6-9 p.m., in front of the Wilson County Public Library, 249 W. Nash St.

Each month First Friday has a different theme. This month is International music, featuring Soul Brazil, a six-piece band from Charlotte that plays Samba, Bossa Nova and Brazilian popular music. The music has a mix of traditional music and urban influences of rock, folk and pop.

There will be other entertainment, children's activities, community information, food and drink for sale, and other things to do. Attendees are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs. The event is free and open to the public.

In case of rain, the event will be relocated to the Boykin Center.

The Human Relations Office and Human Relations Commission sponsor the annual First Fridays on the Lawn concert series to celebrate “Diversity through Music.” The free public concerts, on the first Fridays of July-October, bring together neighbors using music as the bridge builder. The event includes live bands, family friendly activities, community booths and performances by local dance studios.
