Public can see plans for whirligig park at Monday forum

The public is invited to find out more about plans for the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park at a a free presentation on Monday, Dec. 3, 6-7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, third floor of City Hall, 112 Goldsboro St. Light refreshments will be served.

Lappas and Havener, PA, have just completed the Design Development phase of the project. On Monday night, they will show and discuss all the details such as the design and configuration of the water feature, the shade structure, rain garden, benches, and the key issue of lighting the whirligigs.

A public/private partnership between the City of Wilson, North Carolina, Wilson Downtown Development Corporation, Wilson Downtown Properties, and North Carolina Arts Council, the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park Project will be a catalyst for economic development, provide workforce training, and educate children and the general public about entrepreneurship, science, art, sustainability, and history.
