Customer service center will add evening, Saturday hours

The City of Wilson’s downtown customer service center and its call center will add evening and Saturday hours next month.
The expanded hours – more than 10 a week -- are meant to offset the loss of City Hall at the Mall. That location will close at the end of Friday, Dec. 28, due to plans to demolish the mall.
As of Saturday, Dec. 29, the customer service center, located at 208 NE Nash St., across from the BB&T towers, will have drive-through service 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. The center will continue to be open for full-service customer service 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
Also, the call center (399-2200) will be staffed from 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays.
The city is consolidating all its customer service operations at one location for efficiency. The drive-through only service at Fikewood Shopping Center will also be closed after Dec. 28, although the building will continue to serve as a police substation.
Both the branch locations opened prior to the city’s opening of its customer service center. The Nash Street location has plenty of parking and four lanes of drive-through service.
Customers have two options to pay their bills online. They can sign up for automatic bank drafts, where their monthly bills will be paid on their due dates, or they can make one-time payments. Information is available at the city’s website,
