WILSON- Kim Hands has been named the City of Wilson’s new Director of Finance. Hands has served as Assistant Director since 2007 and was promoted to Interim Director in January.
Hands continues a tradition of strong accountability and financial stewardship in Wilson. The City has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate for Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 25 consecutive years. City Council approved the 2012/2013 fiscal year budget proposal unanimously in its most recent meeting; Hands was serving as Interim Director as the proposal was created.
“Wilson is a wonderful place to call home,” said Hands. “I am excited to be representing the City of Wilson as the Director of Finance. I look forward to providing continued stability to the area of finance and to contributing in future business objectives.”
“Kim has been invaluable to us with all of the challenges we have faced over the last few years,” said Grant Goings, City Manager. “Her experience and budget acumen has served us well, and I am proud to remove the ‘Interim’ title and welcome her as a member of the City’s Leadership Team. “
Prior to her service in Wilson, Hands served as Business/Budget Officer for the NC Department of Health and Human Services where she oversaw the financials, budgets and grants for the Chief Medical Examiner and the NC State Epidemiology Unit.
Hands also served for seventeen years as the Chief Financial Officer in Summit County, Ohio.
