Nash County, City of Wilson Meet to Seek Common Ground
For Immediate Release, April 18, 2012
WILSON-Nash County, Sanderson Farms, and City of Wilson Officials have met over the last two days in an attempt to resolve an ongoing conflict over the proposed location of a poultry processing plant and affiliated facilities in southern Nash County. The meetings were held at the City of Wilson’s Operations Center and included several representatives from each entity as well as a professional mediator.
“The Nash County participants feel that we made substantial progress over the last two days toward resolving our differences and we look forward to continuing our discussions,” said Bob Murphy, Nash County Manager.
“We believe all parties are trying to find common ground. We still have some work to do, but progress was made and the meetings were productive,” said Grant Goings, Wilson City Manager.
Any terms negotiated through such meetings would require approval from the Wilson City Council and the Nash County Board of Commissioners.
