Wilson Wins National Award for Environmental Video
Monday, September 19, 2011
The City of Wilson has earned a first place 'Savvy Award" from the City County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) for its 30-minute video about the potential dangers of factory-type chicken farms in NC. A group of peers determined the merit for the award, which was announced last week at the organization's annual conference.
The panel of judges said:
"This video is pretty much perfect. It takes a complicated issue, tells
the full story, but never loses our attention or becomes burdensome
to watch. The tone is easy to understand without talking down to
the audience. Great research, amazing production value, and
interesting pacing. This video grabbed our attention and held it.
Results were also impressive."
"A lot of people worked very hard to make this presentation happen," said Brian Bowman, Wilson public affairs manager. "The people who are affected most by this issue gave their time and energies generously. We hope this collection of interviews and media citations will play a role in protecting our water supply."
Wilson's entry won first place in the One-Time Video:Special Programming category for cities up to 93,000 population.
The City-County Communications and Marketing Association is the leading organization for local governments that are innovating new and better ways of communicating with their citizens by viewing them as customers with important input into the kinds of services offered and how they are provided.
The video airs daily on cable channel 8. It is also available on this website at WilsonNC.org/pollution
