Rain washes out final Downtown Alive of 2014

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Wilson County for most of Tuesday, July 15, which caused Downtown Alive to be called off for this evening.

Tonight's concert was to feature the Band of Oz, which was making up a concert that was cancelled earlier this summer also by rain. The Band of Oz will still appear in Wilson, but the concert will most likely be in the fall. A date will be announced later.

The cancellation means the end of the 2014 Downtown Alive concert series.

But the First Fridays on the Lawn series is about to start. The first 2014 event will be Friday, Aug. 2, 6-9 p.m. on the lawn of the Wilson County Public Library, 249 W. Nash St. The featured performer will be country artist Darrell Harwood, but the evening will also include National Night Out activities, children's games, community information, food and beverages for sale, and other entertainment.
