Performs professional and supervisory responsibilities related to the development, coordination, and implementation of Senior Programs & Special Populations.

The Selection Process

The process begins with a complete evaluation of the applications submitted.  After screening all candidates, the most qualified will be invited to participate in a personal interview.  The interview will cover the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the vacant position.  The applicant determined to best fit the needs of the position will be given a careful reference and thorough criminal background check, a drug test and any required medical examinations that may be necessary.

How to Compete in the Process

To be considered for this position, applicants must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a degree in Recreation Administration/Management or closely related field; and two years’ experience in a recreational setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applicants must have a valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record and must possess (or obtain within 90 days of hire) and maintain a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Applicants should possess (or obtain within 90 days of hire) and maintain valid Red Cross First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications. Applicants should have knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of applicable recreation programs. This position requires skills in the use of office equipment, including computers and related software. Applicants should have the ability to work in a group setting; plan, organize, supervise and evaluate various activities; ensure sound fiscal management; communicate effectively orally and in writing; follow oral and written instructions; perform work requiring good physical and mental condition; deal tactfully and courteously with the public; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public and operate automobiles, vans, and buses; a variety of athletic equipment.
