The PositionPerforms technical and supervisory duties in the trimming and removal of trees in support of the installation, maintenance, and repair of the electric distribution system. Work is performed under regular supervision. Supervision is exercised over assigned personnel. This position may be required to work occasional after hours in emergencies.
The Selection ProcessThe process begins with a complete evaluation of the applications submitted. After screening all candidates, the most qualified will be invited to participate in a personal interview. The interview will cover the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the vacant position. The applicant determined to best fit the needs of the position will be given a careful reference and thorough criminal background check, a drug test and any required medical examinations that may be necessary.
How to Compete in the ProcessTo be considered for this position, applicant must have a high school or considerable experience climbing and working at heights in the care, trimming, and removal of trees. Must have thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the work; and be able to operate a truck with a hydraulic boom; and possess skill in the care of ropes, ladders, climber hooks, power chain saws, axes, riggings and other tools used in tree trimming and felling operations. Must be able to assign and supervise the work of subordinates; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. A Class A CDL is required within six months of hire. Applicants with experience in working around high voltage power will be preferred.
