A City of Wilson Application is required and must be received at the City of Wilson Human Resources Department, 112 Goldsboro Street SW, Wilson, NC. This listing will run continuous until filled.

Hourly Rate: $9.37

The Position

Performs occasional services in directing traffic in conjunction with moving children to and from school in the absence of the regularly assigned School Crossing Guard. Duties include: Monitoring and controlling vehicular traffic at designated crossings to allow children to cross safely; leading and directing children at the crossing to ensure they conform to traffic; and taking appropriate action to report children and/or motorists who fail to comply with the traffic regulations in the crossing zone.
 
This substitute position works a flexible schedule that may include working Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 8:30 AM, and 2:30 to 3:30 PM.

The Selection Process

Our process begins with a complete evaluation of the applications submitted for employment. A limited number of persons determined to be most qualified, as reflected by the contents of their applications, will be invited to a personal interview. The interview will cover the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the vacant position. The applicant determined to best fit the needs of the vacant position will be given a careful reference work background review along with a complete medical examination, which includes a drug test.

Direct bank deposit is required for all new employees.

How to Compete in the Process

To be considered to for this position you must have: A combination of education and experience equivalent to those required to perform the essential functions of the position; and knowledge of traffic regulations, school locations, and traffic patterns. Must be alert, dependable, and courteous; follow oral and written instructions; work in a safe manner; and be able and available to work as needed, throughout the school year. 

Benefits

NOTE: There are no guaranteed or set regular hours on a weekly or monthly basis. Also, there are no benefits for this part-time position.
