The Position
Performs technical duties in the suppression of fire and in response to medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other emergency situations; and performs other related duties as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision of a higher ranking officer, often under emergency and stressful conditions that may involve personal hazard.

The Selection Process
Our process begins with a complete evaluation of the applications submitted for employment. A limited number of persons determined to be most qualified, as reflected by the contents of their applications, will be invited to a personal interview. The interview will cover the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the vacant position. The applicant determined to best fit the needs of the vacant position will be given a careful reference work background review along with a complete medical examination, which includes a drug test.
Direct bank deposit is required for all new employees.
How to Compete in the Process
All applicants must have a valid Drivers License; possess a high school diploma or equivalent; and be physically able to perform the duties of the firefighter position. Applicants must possess knowledge of: modern firefighting techniques and equipment; federal, state and city laws and regulations related to fire control and prevention; and emergency medical techniques. Applicant must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing; have demonstrated the ability to perform basic life support techniques; and have demonstrated the ability to operate: emergency apparatus, vehicles, and equipment; radio and communication equipment; and computers and other office equipment. The most preferred applicants will possess certifications in Hazardous Materials Technician Level,
