Performs administrative and technical duties in supervising the operation and maintenance of water reclamation facilities.

The Selection Process

Our process begins with a complete evaluation of the applications submitted for employment. A limited number of persons determined to be most qualified, as reflected by the contents of their applications, will be invited to a personal interview. The interview will cover the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the vacant position. The applicant determined to best fit the needs of the vacant position will be given a careful reference work background review along with a complete medical examination, which includes a drug test.

Direct bank deposit is required for all new employees.

How to Compete in the Process

Applicant must have thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and techniques used in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities, and equipment used in wastewater treatment. Applicant must have knowledge of chemical, physical, and bacteriological analyzes of water; and knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to wastewater treatment and laboratory analysis. Applicant must have demonstrated the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work; supervise and motivate personnel; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Must have also demonstrated skill in the use of a computer; and be skilled in performing mathematical computations accurately. 
 
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field with at least five years of experience will be accepted. A Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field, and at least of three years of experience will be preferred. Or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience comparable to the above may be accepted. A valid Drivers License is required. Candidates must have or be able to obtain a NC Grade IV Wastewater Operator Certification within 18 months of employment. Candidates all ready possessing the Grade IV certification will be preferred.
