PROPERTY OWNERS AFFECTED BY HURRICANE MATTHEW IN OCTOBER 2016
In September, 2016, 49 counties within North Carolina were impacted by Hurricane Matthew. Those 49 counties were federally declared as Disaster Areas under the Robert T. Stafford Act, the federal law that allows funding to be appropriated for disaster recovery and mitigation projects that will reduce the occurrence of future losses. The NC Division of Emergency Management has announced that the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program process has been opened for the 49 affected counties in eastern NC. The City of Wilson and Wilson County have been working with NC Emergency Management regarding various Mitigation opportunities for our local property owners. These are both residential and commercial property owners within the entire geographic boundary of Wilson County.
Mitigation of property comes in many forms, all designed to limit or prevent damage from flooding future property
We would like an opportunity to review these options, discuss your current situation and determine your area of interest. The City of Wilson and Wilson County will be hosting a meeting on February 21, 2017 at 6 pm. The meeting will take place in the City Council Chambers in City Hall located at 112 Goldsboro Street, E.
