1st Fridays on the Lawn – Opening Bands & Intermission Acts
The City of Wilson – Human Relations Commission sponsors a city-wide annual concert series. The celebrations are held every first Friday , July - October. The concerts celebrate family fun and invite a variety of musical talent and local performance groups to entertain. The Human Relations Commission is always searching for community performance groups including bands, dancing, singing and other talents. Children and adult groups are welcomed!
Opening Bands -
Wilson community bands are encouraged to apply for consideration as an opening band for the concert series. The bands are needed to help create a festive celebration that is family focused and reflects the diversity of Wilson.
The opening band should expect to perform for approximately 45 minutes. Bands are typcially selected for dates that match the concert theme nights.
With the wide selection of community talent, identifying only a handful of bands to perform each year is a difficult decision. Should a band not be selected for this year's line up they may reapply in the future and all information is retained for consideration at other events.

Intermission Acts -
In addition to bands, each concert date also highlights community talent such as dance groups, demonstrations and performance acts. Groups can be considered for a performance on the ground level dance floor during the intermission as bands switch on/off stage. The intermission is approximatley 30 minutes in which one or several groups may perform.
Intermission acts may also set up an informational booth to share with attendees more about their group, upcoming performances and membership opportunities.
