The Fire Maintenance Specialist position is of utmost importance to the citizens of Wilson, NC. The person holding this position is overall in charge of maintaining and repairing all off the fire apparatus' and fire fighting equipment for the City.

Due to the extreme conditions that these vehicles operate under, in depth knowledge of Emergency Response Equipment is required. (Our current Fire Maintenance Specialist has over 20 years experience in this field.) The Specialist is required to be a certified Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) with additional certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

A thorough understanding of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards is also required to maintain, repair, and conduct service tests on the vehicles and equipment in accordance with the most up to date requirements.

Holding these certifications, and demonstrating high levels of experience and knowledge assists the City of Wilson in maintaining it's position as one of the few Fire Departments to continue it's standing as an Internationally Accredited Agency.

David Clark

Overall in charge of the maintenance and repair of all fire apparatus' and firefighting equipment for the City of Wilson, NC. This involves scheduling preventative maintenance as well as effecting emergency repairs. Maintaining a department budget, establishing & maintaining equipment records, requisition of repair parts and supplies, and recommending policy & procedure changes are included in his duties.
