 Chief Don Oliver

DONALD (DON) OLIVER - FIRE CHIEF

Don Oliver is a thirty-seven (37) year veteran of the fire service. He began his career as a firefighter with the Wichita Kansas Fire Department in March 1967. As a member of the Thornton (Colorado) Fire Department from 1973-1992, his ranks included Lieutenant, Training Officer, Assistant Chief and Chief of the Department. He has served as the Chief of Wilson Fire/Rescue Services (North Carolina) since March of 1992. Wilson Fire/Rescue Services received the CFAI Accredited Agency status in 2002.

Chief Oliver is a graduate of Columbia College (Missouri) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Individual Studies with a concentration in fire service administration. He also is a 1988 graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) and the Management Excellence Program at the Center for Public Service , University of Virginia. He has also achieved the Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFOD) from the Commission for Chief Fire Officer Designation.

He presently serves as the President of the National Society of Executive Fire Officers (NSEFO). He is the past chair of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Fire Prevention Committee. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and also serves as vice-chair of the Board of Visitors for the National Fire Academy. He is also a candidate for 2nd Vice-president of the International Association of Fire Chiefs in 2004. doliver@wilsonnc.org

Randy Godwin ~ Deputy Chief

Randy Godwin

Randy is a graduate of Wilson Technical College with an AAS Degree in Fire Protection Technology and earned a BS Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology from the University of Cincinnati. He is an EFO (Executive Fire Officer) graduate from the National Fire Academy and was awarded his national Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Designation in 2002. As Division Chief, he performs extensive administrative and managerial work as it applies to the Operations, Administration, Resource Development and Fire Prevention Divisions of the Wilson Fire/Rescue Services.

Tracy Mosley ~ Deputy Chief

 

Tracy Mosley is a twenty-five (25) year veteran of the fire service.  He began his career as firefighter with the Wilson Fire/Rescue Services May 21, 1986.  His ranks included Engineer, Captain, Battalion Commander and Deputy Chief.  He is currently serving as Deputy Chief of Operations, Training and Maintenance.

 
Chief Mosley is a graduate of Wilson Technical Community College with an Associate Degree in FireScience Technology and Fayetteville State University with a Bachelorette in Fire Service Management.  He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP).  He has been a fire service instructor for twenty-one (21) years. Chief Mosley also serves as an adjunct instructor for Wilson Community College Fire Science Curriculum.
 
He is also a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, North Carolina State Firemans Association, currently serves as the Eastern Director for the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs as well as President of the Eastern North Carolina Firefighters Association. He also serves as Deacon at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson, NC.

Administration

Jackie BassJackie Bass
GIS Technician

Responsible for the management of Wilson Fire/Rescue Services Geographic Information System (GIS) databases. Bass also performs duties to assist in the support of WF/RS Staff and the administrative operations of the department.

Tracy Price
Administrative Assistant

Responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to the Wilson Fire/Rescue Services Fire Chief and Chief Officers as well as other officers and fire suppression personnel to assure efficient and effective operation of Fire Administration on a daily basis.  Also assists in the GIS databases and Pre-Incident Surveys. tprice@wilsonnc.org

Special Operations

Benjamin Smith
Battalion Commander (Battalion 4)                 
Special Operations/HazMat

As the Special Operations Commander, Smith coordinates the operation of the Wilson Fire and Rescue Hazardous Incident Team. Smith also serves as the department's Incident Safety Officer at emergency incidents as well as assists in the coordination of the department's response to technical rescue incidents. Smith works as a member of the Wilson Fire and Rescue Service's Training Division to assist with the coordination of training activities within our organization. Smith has been a member of the Wilson Fire and Rescue Services since 1990.
